12. February 2011: Restaurant Tivoli @Hotel Hilton Munich Park

At the Restaurant Tivoli on the ground floor of the Hotel Hilton Munich Park you can enjoy good dishes in a nice atmosphere. I decided to go for the menu (Chef’s recommendation) for EUR 35.00 with a starter of “Orechiette with confit tomatoes, aubergine, parmesan cheese”. The Orechiette were quite good, just a bit more than al dente (unfortunately) but viscid in consistency, the tomato sauce with confit tomatoes was rich in taste and the combination of aubergine made it perfect. The whole dish was lacking a bit in spice though – some pepper helped and made the dish quite good.

As a main dish I had the “Saddle of veal, morel sauce, carrots, gnocchi”. The meat was really tender, the morel sauce was discreet but good in taste. The carrots – I usually don’t like cooked carrots – were good because they were close to raw. The gnocchi were great in taste as you could see (because of the varying shapes they had) and taste that they were hand-made. In combination with the morel sauce and the tender meat, the dish’s ingredients complemented themselves perfectly.

The menu was really tasty – especially the main course – and fair in price (EUR 35.00) too. Before the official menu you get a basket of fresh bread plus some sauces which are really tasty too. As an aperitivo I had a glass (1DL) of Pinot Grigio which was quite good but also rather expensive (9 EUR).

The waiters are friendly, helpful and quick. All requests were completed as requested within very reasonable time. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice as it is on the ground floor in a corner of the building with a large glass front and you could see the river (if it wasn’t too dark outside). Additionally, the interior is nice too but the light is dimmed a bit too much as you can’t really see much. In addition, the tables are rather close to each other so it’s not much with privacy, really.

Overall, the Restaurant Tivoli in the Hotel Hilton Munich Park is a good restaurant with tasty dishes, friendly service for fair prices in a nice atmosphere. On the 12th floor of the Hilton you can find the Executive Lounge (Dinner / Breakfast).
