Good Asian dishes in a nice atmosphere and professional service: Restaurant Yuma (18. February 2020)

Somehow I have missed the fact that the Forum has closed and, newly, Yuma took its place. The restaurant is open for more than 1.5 years and I only got to try it now. So, give nit was my first – and definitely overdue – time here, I decided to give the menu a shot and get kind of everything. So, we started with “Tuna Tataki Bao (tuna, kimchi, avocado, cabbage)” (CHF 16.90) which was good but not nearly as good as the “Peking Duck Bao (duck, hoisin, cucumber, mint)” (CHF 16.90) which was just delicious. Tasty meat, crispy, intense in flavor.

The “Ceviche Clàsico (white fish, radish, sweet potato, coriander)” (CHF 17.50) on the other hand, while it was decent, did not really live up to other places where they serve ceviche.

The “Dim Sum Rainbow (Züri, salmon, red curry, sweet potato, tom kha gai, chinese beef)” (CHF 22.90) looked quite nice in terms of colour and some were also great in terms of taste, others not so much. Not sure which one was which one as they did not lay out which colour was which dim sum.

The “Dim Sum Red Chicken Curry (chicken, red curry, spring onion)” (CHF 15.50) were okay but not among the best of the dim sum rainbow plate.

What I absolutely liked where the “Chimichurri Steak Tacos (beef, avocado, tomato, jalapeño)” (CHF 16.90) although it is an abomination if you have ever tried real Mexican food in Mexico, it was a tasty abomination!

The “Pork and Ginger Gyoza (fried dumplings with pork, ginger, cabbage)” (CHF 15.50) were good too but where not that warm anymore when they were served which was a bit of a pity really.

The “Fresh Apple Gimlet (vodka, fresh lime and fresh apple juice)” (CHF 16.00) was a simple but tasteful drink – good flavor, smooth, and doing the trick in terms of alcohol.

The wine we had, a bottle of “Pinot Grigio, Cantina Riff” (CHF 62.00) was not something I would recommend as the wine wasn’t really great. Furthermore, if you are going as a group of three, make sure you book for four people as the tables for three are incredibly small and not really ideal if you order a couple of dishes to share as it is way too tight. The service was friendly and helpful and executed our orders within due time. To sum it up, I can absolutely recommend you the Restaurant Yuma as the place offers good food (it’s a bit too diverse in terms of what kind of cuisines they offer on the menu), has a nice atmosphere and good service.
