Traditional restaurant with decent food: Restaurant Schweizerheim (21. July 2020)

| July 30, 2020 | 0 Comments

The Schweizerheim is frankly not a place I would have walked into, but as my sister recommended it, I figured, it’s worth giving a try. And I must admit that it is actually absolutely enjoyable. The place is relatively simple and the location isn’t the best as it is next to the main road but the service was friendly, attentive, and swift. And the selection of dishes was not only good but also the quality was good – despite the fact that the menu was relatively big and, therefore, I had almost no expectations in terms of quality.

The “Cold roast beef (roast beef from the entrecôte, served with rocket salad and sauce tartare)” (CHF 28.50) was a main course to share and the beef was good and the sauce tartare was fine too. Not enough for my personal gusto but enjoyable and generally tasty. Not sure why it needed the salad with some dressing in the middle but I suppose in terms of decoration, it did the trick.

As a main course, I went for the “Pizza Calabrese (tomato sauce, mozzarella, spicy salami, olives, pepperoncini, oregano)” (CHF 21.50) with additional “anchovies” (CHF 2.00). The pizza was definitely hand-made and was nice in terms of ingredients and quality of the dish. The dough was a tiny bit too thick for my personal taste but still very enjoyable all in all.

They had a nice selection of different, rather interesting ice creams in stock, so I decided to go for “chocolate & coconut” (CHF 3.90), “blueberry cheesecake” (CHF 3.90) and “caramelita” (CHF 3.90) and it was a good selection. Some of the flavours were rather strong but they still made an enjoyable combination of flavours all in all.

So, even though it’s probably not the first choice in terms of location and atmosphere, the Schweizerheim is actually a nice restaurant with a traditional menu and good food for fair prices. Booking in advance, surprisingly enough, is highly recommended.
