Surprisingly delicious Italian food with lovely service: Restaurant Baccano (19. June 2020)
Sometimes you’re really lucky when you find a place with good food in an area you wouldn’t really expect it. The Baccano is a rather simple Italian place with a few tables outside – not really the nicest area and not really the cosiest in terms of atmosphere but the staff was very attentive and friendly and although it was almost 11 pm, they still took the order and prepared the dishes. With the only downside that all was brought at the same time. The “Burrata Pugliese (burrata on arugula, cherry tomatoes)” EUR 16.00) was exquisite. I had not expected that the burrata would be that great, i.e. that it would be so fresh and creamy at it was.
Given they also offered ‘special’ pizzas, I decided to give one of those a try, the “Pizza Cuddurune (tomato sauce, caciocavallo, anchovies, red onions, bread crumbs)” (EUR 19.00) which is apparently a typical Sicilian pizza from Palermo. And I must say it was very rich and intense in flavour. A pizza exactly to my gusto.
The prices are – at least in my impression – at the upper end for Italian food. Especially considering that it’s France and not really centrally located in Paris. However, in terms of beverages, the prices are fine, i.e. EUR 5.00 for a “double espresso”, EUR 6.50 for a bottle of water and EUR 39.00 for a bottle of “Dolcetto d’Alba”. So, all in all, if you are in Boulogne-Billancourt and are looking for some Italian food, the Baccano is actually a good place to get exactly that!
