Delicious Korean dishes in a simple atmosphere: Restaurant Bibim Shack Stauffacher (5. September 2020)
It’s quite a bit ago since I’ve tried Korean but the Bibim Shack at the Stauffacher was ranked quite high for their food so I decided to give it a try. The “kimchi rice balls with spicy, sweet sauce” (CHF 12.50) and the “Korean fried chicken with Korean mayo” (CHF 13.50) were both good but the rice balls were comparatively boring when having the fried chicken right next to it.
The “Bibimbap Dolsot (Korean rice dish mixed with vegetables and home-mix gochujang or mild sauce, served in a hot stone-bowl with beef)” (CHF 25.50) with a “fried egg” (+ CHF 2.50) on top is really quite nice. It was a bit more vegetables than I had expected but it still made for a marvelous dish in the end which was remarkably enjoyable.
During the pandemic it is kind of vital to make sure to book a table in advance as else you end up sitting randomly outside at a small table which is ultimately okay but could have gone wrong easily if I wouldn’t have eaten dinner so early. In any case, after an initial waiting time to get the menu, the service is friendly and swift and makes sure you have everything you need. So, all in all, I can absolutely recommend the Bibim Shack at the Stauffacher – delicious Korean food, friendly service, nice atmosphere.
