Authentic Swiss dishes but incredibly slow service: Restaurant The Swiss House (14. November 2020)

| December 1, 2020 | 0 Comments

It is sometimes quite surprising where you find a nice place to enjoy a good lunch. Or let me put it that way, I hadn’t expected to find tasty Swiss dishes in a golf club restaurant. The Swiss House offers exactly that though – delicious, simple, Swiss dishes in a nice atmosphere. We started with “The “Alpine plate” with charcuterie and mountain cheese” (CHF 28.00) which sounded like a rather small portion to share but turned out to be quite big and had a nice variety (a bit heavy on the meat side though).

What wasn’t so great was the speed of the service. While the staff was super friendly, it definitely took them way too long to bring the beverages as well as the food. Somehow, you really need to be patient in order to get what you want here. As a main dish, I went for the “crispy fried pikeperch fillets and tartar sauce” (CHF 26.00). While the salad was exquisite (and had quite a broad range of ingredients), the fried pikeperch fillets were somehow a bit too dense and too crispy for my personal gusto.

When the sun is shining, the place is absolutely nice. And if you don’t mind the cold, it’s actually lovely to sit outside – however, it really gets cold quickly. Surprisingly, although the golf course was closed, you definitely have to book your table in advance as the place was full.

All in all, if you’re not in a rush, I can definitely recommend The Swiss House. If you are just getting here to have something really quick, I would recommend you to not come here as the speed of the kitchen / service isn’t made for quick delivery.
