Very average dining experience: Restaurant Route twenty-six @ Sheraton Zurich (4. March 2021)
It is about 5.5 years ago since I’ve been to the Sheraton Zurich and it is about 5.5 years ago, since I have had dinner at the Route twenty-six. And the place remains similar to back then – solid, but not overwhelming. The “curry curcuman soup” (CHF 12.00) was quite a bit and actually tasty. So, it started better than I had envisioned.
However, the “flank steak (180gr) with French fries and coleslaw” (CHF 42.00) on the other hand was a disappointment. The meat was somehow chewy and rather small in terms of size. However, the fries were at least good and so was the coleslaw.
In terms of atmosphere, the Restaurant Route twenty-six is a typical hotel restaurant. Functional. Decent. Nothing more. With regards to the menu you get a rather limited selection of dishes – while I’m not sure if this is due to Corona or if the menu is always that limited. What truly surprised me was the lack of available wines – there is like two red wines by the glass which seems like very little to me. At least the service was friendly and relatively attentive. So, if you are up for a quick dinner, the Route twenty-six is a good option. If you are looking for something sophisticated, not so much.
