A great bargain and surprisingly tasty food: Restaurant Zengo @ Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa (12. March 2021)

| May 26, 2021 | 0 Comments

What is great about the Zengo is the view from the balcony terrace since it allows you to sit outside and enjoy the surroundings accordingly. And, therefore, it’s perfect to start everything off with a “Yuzu Gimlet” (60 AED) which was refreshing and disappeared quite quickly.

Now, the “Zengo set menu” (250 AED) is where the bargain happens. You get a variety of dishes for a relatively low price and, believe me, you’ll definitely be full afterwards. The cold starters are “flamed salmon roll (chipotle sauce, tobiko, avocado)” and “papaya and pomelo salad (mango, peanuts, lime chili dressing)”. The rolls are actually quite delicious and the salad is adequately refreshing.

Warm starters are the “vegetable spring rolls (tofu, shimo noodles, lettuce, sweet plum sauce)” and the “chicken wings (coriander jalapeño sauce)” of which both are great in terms of flavor and consistency. Of course, this is not the best cuisine I’ve ever tried, but they are both very enjoyable and mouth-watering as a preliminary step to get to the mains.

You don’t get one main, you don’t get two mains, you get three mains! A “corn-fed chicken curry (green curry, eggplant, edamame, snow peas, zucchini)”, a “teriyaki salmon (padron peppers)” and “prawns Kung Pao (bell peppers, dry chili, cashew nut, pineapple)”. And, I must say, all of the dishes are very enjoyable and rich in terms of flavor and quality – so, very enjoyable all in all. It is definitely too much food – even if you haven’t eaten much throughout the day.

The service is super friendly and absolutely attentive, making it a pleasant experience to dine there. And even the dessert, a “matcha cheese cake (red beans jam)” looked absolutely stunning to end the dinner.

So, even if you don’t stay at the Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa, it is still worth visiting the Zengo since it offers great food in a nice setting, good service, and ultimately an amazing price-performance ratio!
