Unbearably long waiting times – despite the nice setting: Restaurant Brasserie Schiller (28. May 2021)

| June 28, 2021 | 0 Comments

What is lovely when you visit the Brasserie Schiller for lunch is the fact that you get tasty food in a lovely setting – seated in the sun enjoying the heat. What isn’t so great is the fact that the service takes way too long – to bring the menu, to take up the order, to bring the drinks, and finally the kitchen to prepare the food. Luckily, I wasn’t in a rush that day but frankly, it’s just definitely taking too long when you’re there for a regular lunch and you need 90 minutes to get your starter and your main.

The “asparagus soup” (CHF 15.00) was admittedly tasty but not sure it’s worth CHF 15.00. And it’s definitely not worth waiting forty (!) minutes for. Unless you have to get the asparagus from the field, there is literally no way it can take that long. Not even if the kitchen is super busy.

The “Zürcher Geschnetzeltes” (CHF 48.00) was absolutely delicious! The meat was tender, yummy, aromatic – the sauce was delicious. And the roesti prepared how it should be. So, all in all, a really perfect main course. Just the fact that you have to wait another 30 minutes after you have received the soup is just off. I mean, I get it, it’s not that long ago since restaurants opened again and all in all it’s kind of stressful and your kitchen is not used to big masses anymore, but come on!

If you are not in a rush and get to enjoy a good bottle of “Sancerre Blanches” (CHF 82.00), it’s okay to be seated there for that long. But even then it becomes almost unbearable at some point in time. So, to sum it up – while the food is good, I would never want to go there again for lunch on a sunny day as everything is just way too slow. Luckily, the waiters and waitresses were super friendly but even that can’t compensate for the humongous waiting time!
