Delicious Afghan food but slow kitchen: Restaurant Rumi (15. June 2021)
I think I have never tried Afghan cuisine before, so I thought, why not. One warning ahead, just make sure to plan enough time to actually order and receive your meal since it seems like there was basically one guy responsible for taking orders, bringing drinks, cooking, serving, etc. – no wonder it takes its tame.
In any case, I went for one of the lunch offerings in the hope that things would be served quickly. The “Morgh Palau (chicken meat with brown-baked basmati rice and potatoes)” (EUR 8.50) was my choice. At first I was surprised since there was definitely no chicken in the ‘red’ part on the right. However, surprise, surprise, the chicken was hidden under the rice.
And I must say, the food is definitely good. Not exactly mind-blowing but definitely enjoyable. And looking at the price, it is also very decent. So, all in all, the restaurant Rumi offers good lunch offerings for a reasonable price and generally provides an enjoyable experience. The fact that the guy was alone – I later found out – was due to the fact that another guy somehow had slept in. Plus, the Rumi isn’t located entirely optimal since it’s right next to a relatively busy street. Other than that, fine for lunch. If you’re not in a rush.
