Somehow like Vapiano but with a more Middle Eastern cuisine: Restaurant Bona’me Köln-Deutz (7. July 2021)
While I was expecting a regular restaurant, the concept of the Bona’Me is very close to the one of Vapiano – or actually, it’s the same, just for a different cuisine. In any case, once I had digested that this was not a regular restaurant but a go get it yourself place, I went for the “hummus” (EUR 3.50) as a starter which came with a big piece of bread and was actually surprisingly delicious – i.e., much better than I had expected.
While the “Sucuklu pide (pide with Turkish salami, home-made tomato sauce and cheese)” (EUR 11.90) looks rather tiny in this picture, it’s actually a huge portion! And frankly, as good as the starter was, as boring was the main course. I mean, yeah, it has all of that on it but somehow it lacked flavor. It was rather bland.
At least the “Bona’me ice tea” (EUR 3.90) was good in terms of taste – although it was largely sugar. Or at least, the sugar levels were beyond truly enjoyable. All in all, the restaurant Bona-Me is okay – not really a restaurant experience but rather a ‘help yourself experience’ – and, depending on what you order, also an okay one in terms of flavor and taste.
