The perfect starting and end point to the Bishorn: Restaurant Cabane de Tracuit (17. July 2021)

| August 14, 2021 | 0 Comments

If you made it up to the Cabane de Tracuit from Zinal you’ve managed about 1’700 meters in height and definitely deserve a hearty meal. The “cheese and cold cuts platter” to start was just perfect – served with pickles and some bread, it actually made for a great start.

Now, the “roesti, eggs sunny side up, ham” (CHF 22.00 per person – for five) was a tremendously large portion of a typical Swiss dish but the heavy and hearty version. It was absolutely enjoyable though.

When we are looking at the atmosphere, there is really not much to be excited about since it’s really like a scouts camp kind of hut which is clean and functional but not amazing. The view down (the way you walk up) though is nice. The service is a lot of self-service (i.e., you go to the kitchen counter, place your order, pay, get your drinks, and only the food is then served at the table). Still, if you make it up here, the food is actually simple but good – and enjoyable. And the perfect starting point for the Bishorn. Or, in our case, the perfect meal after having reached the top of the mountain.
