Surprisingly delicious tapas in a place where you’d not expect it: Restaurant Stadtwaldgarten (21. July 2021)
Sometimes you encounter little food gems in places you would definitely not expect it. The Stadtwaldgarten sounds like a very German restaurant – turns out, it’s not. It’s more of a Spanish restaurant which serves a whole wide variety of different tapas which all cost (with two exceptions) EUR 4.50.
The “Jamón Serrano” (EUR 7.50) was one of the exceptions and it was absolutely fine. The “gazpacho Andaluz)” (EUR 4.50) was actually absolutely refreshing and also quite a portion. Frankly, it looked a bit different in terms of color than I’m used to but it was great. I super mega loved the “chorizo” (EUR 4.50) since they were really intense but not overwhelming. And ultimately, the “boquerones fritos” (EUR 4.50) were good – and since we had aioli from other elements on the table, it turned out to be the perfect dip for the fish.
On top of that, the kitchen was swift and made sure we had everything we needed within due time – plus the waitress was truly friendly and swift. So, all in all, the perfect location for a brief evening break. Booking in advance recommended (despite the fact that the restaurant is located quite a bit outside of the city center of Cologne).
