Good food but with service not up to the task: Restaurant Lütticher (22. July 2021)
When you book a table and then you’re told that certain tables are not free – and some walk-in 5 minutes later gets exactly one of these tables, it does not feel like a good start. Despite that little sour note, the Lütticher is a place to be visited. We went for the “3 course menu” (EUR 43.90) which can be put together individually from all the dishes on the menu. I went for the “strawberry tomato gazpacho with grissini” (usually, EUR 9.50) which was delicious. The sweetness of the strawberry combined with the groundedness of the tomato made a great starter.
As a main, I went for the “rumpsteak (la marocha) with home-made fries and truffle mayonnaise” (usually, EUR 28.90) …
… which was served with a side salad. The meat was good (but a bit too small for my personal gusto) and the fries were actually exquisite. The salad was surprisingly diverse too – not a given in any restaurant as a side.
Last but not least, the “cheese platter with fig mustard and bread from Zimmermann” (usually, EUR 12.90) was kind of not really the great thing. The rest was lovely though.
The place is nice since there is a little garden which has a lot of tables there – which makes it a bit too crowded and too many small tables in my personal opinion. Other than that, the waiters are friendly and create a pleasant atmosphere but somehow they are not the quickest – at least not if you’re a table of two guys.
