Great dishes in a nice atmosphere: Restaurant am Steinplatz (17. August 2021)

The Restaurant am Steinplatz is located in the Hotel am Steinplatz and is actually super nice. I went for the “meat (beef tatare, baked radishes, egg yolk)” (EUR 11.00) which was good. Frankly, it was almost a bit too many flavors for my personal gusto but all in all still very enjoyable. Luckily though, I had ordered the bread basket since the tatare did not come with any bread.

As a second course, I went for “veggies (steamed wild broccoli, gooseberry, bell pepper, cherry)” (EUR 7.00) which was in that sense a positive surprise since it was not only broccoli but actually wild broccoli which is much more enjoyable (at least in my book) than regular broccoli. The other chutney kind of thing was good but didn’t match the taste of the wild broccoli.

As mentioned earlier, luckily, I had ordered “bread and spread (sourdough bread by Endorphina, chive butter, onion jam)” (EUR 3.00) which was definitely good but not really that exquisite. I mean, I would have expected a bit of something else to be honest but yes, it was good.

The place is nice in terms of atmosphere and generally nice. The service is friendly but somehow did not really match my expectations. I told them to bring whatever was ready – and then they brought it all together. I mean, okay, cool, not big portions so that’s easy but the bread shouldn’t take a solid 15 minutes. At least not in my book. For the rest, good job to get everything done in 15 minutes but waiting for bread for 15 minutes is a bit of a stretch (in my book). Else, I can recommend the Restaurant am Steinplatz, even if you’re not a hotel guest.
