Good dinner option with a lovely view: Restaurant Es Castell @ Castillo Son Vida (19. August 2021)

| September 29, 2021 | 0 Comments

The first dinner in a new hotel is always good to try something new and the Es Castell in the Castillo Son Vida is exactly that – something new. As an amuse bouche, they served a “cone with fish roe” which was intense in flavor but also very enjoyable.

Second in line was the “traditional gazpacho with organic tomatoes” (EUR 13.00) which was much thicker than most of the gazpachos I have tried so far, but at least as enjoyable in terms of flavor.

The “angus beef sirloin with crispy onion rings” (EUR 34.00) as a main was generally speaking a good idea. The meat was good to a large degree but some pieces were rather strainy which didn’t really make it too great an experience. The onion rings on top were good but also, again, not breathtaking.

The “sauce béarnaise” which is served with the meat though was absolutely good and definitely added positively to the whole dinner experience.

What I really like about the place is the view you have onto the sea. It’s not perfect since you’re not exactly high enough to really oversee everything but it give you a good overview of how things can be. The “friandises” which were served to close the dinner were enjoyable too.

All in all, dining at the Restaurant Es Castell is definitely something I can recommend when you stay at the Castillo Son Vida as the food is good and the prices are not cheap but okay for what you get. The service was good but it’s a bit slow. Admittedly, there were quite a few guests even at 10pm but it was still a bit surprising to how long you would have to wait for certain items.
