A lovely place with a food sharing concept: Restaurant HENNE. Weinbar (25. August 2021)

It’s funny how things sometimes coincide – my friend picked a restaurant and my research reconfirmed it right away. Great minds think alike, and I must say that it is a place definitely worth visiting. The concept is kind of a shary concept so you would actually order a few plates to share so we started with the most basic one, the “traditional butter. salted butter. flatrate” (EUR 3.50) which was was basically butter with bread. The bread was definitely good and very enjoyable, hands down.

Next in line were the “croquettes. Carbonara style. Egg yolk cream” (EUR 9.50) and “sour dough ravioli. oxtail filling. duck liver sauce” (EUR 12.00). I liked the croquettes especially due to the sticky and thick egg yolk cream. The sour dough ravioli were even better and really made your taste buds dance.

The “tuna. tomato shaves. pea juice. edamame. chili oil” (EUR 11.00) and the “rolled roast. juvenile suckling pig. marinated cabbage” (EUR 12.00) were both good but definitely not the best that evening. The roast was good but not really my favorite texture combination. The tuna was fine as well but it didn’t really hold any nice surprises.

As a third round, we decided to go for the “dove terrine. caramelized radicchio. Armagnac plums” (EUR 10.00) , “pike dumplings. water cress. young spinach” (EUR 11.00) and “miso celery from the grill. kimchi juice sesame cream” (EUR 11.00). I didn’t really dig the pike dumplings as they were somewhat too creamy and didn’t have any specific consistency other than stuff mashed together. The terrine wasn’t mind blowing either but the miso celery was truly delicious and did the trick.

Last but not least, we went for desserts, specifically, “ice coffee. white coffee ice. Kahlúa. crispy milk” (EUR 5.50) and a “plum tarte. plum vinegar. milk maid ice. white ganache” (EUR 5.50). While I was sure the ice coffee was gonna be great, it turned out, it’s not. But the plum tarte which I did not expect to be very delicious actually turned out amazing in terms of flavor experience.

The place itself is super busy so it’s highly recommendable to book a table in advance. And I get why since the food is good, fair in price, the service is attentive and friendly, and the place has a bit of atmosphere and history. So, all in all, the Restaurant HENNE. Weinbar is definitely a place I can recommend to visit.
