A nice bar but not a classic speakeasy: Speakeasy Apotheke (10. September 2021)
The Apotheke is located in the centre of Valencia and is labelled a speak easy but it doesn’t really look too much like a speak easy to me. I mean, the entrance doesn’t give away right away that it is not a pharmacy but it doesn’t hide either that it’s not a pharmacy. In any case, since the place was still crammed around midnight, I would highly recommend you to book a table online in advance.
Since, despite the large dinner, I was still a bit hungry I was welcoming the idea of a drink with a bite and went for “Boulevardier (el menu para el cine de verano esta listo: trago largo tipo milkshake de bourbon Bulleit, vermut Belsazar, Pedro Ximenez y parmesano y boletus. Acomapañada de nuestra pizza crujiente con pasta de chiles asados y encurtidos)” (EUR 12.75). While the ‘pizza’ is a bit too crispy for my gusto, i.e., quite difficult to eat, the drink was good and enjoyable (also rather smooth and tasty).
The place is rather spacious inside (again, important to book a table in advance) and the service is actually friendly and helpful.
All in all, not sure the speakeasy Apotheke is an actual speak easy but it’s definitely a place I would visit again. Lovely place, lovely interior, nice drinks, and friendly service.
