Rather a disappointment – although it started so promising: Restaurant Panorama (12. September 2021)

| October 31, 2021

That day was not the day of great food. I was hoping that the Panorama would kind of compensate for the lunch failure at Nou Racó. It didn’t. The place is nice in terms of view (if you come during the day but it’s pointless in the evening when it’s dark since you cannot really see anything). But it kind of seemed promising since they had a rather cheap tasting menu of five courses incl. wine pairing for about EUR 60.00 and it sounded like a bargain. However, the fact that the waitress then had to go ask and didn’t have it was somewhat disappointing.

So, instead it was time for “sea bass ceviche with passion fruit seasoning and Valencian orange slush” (EUR 11.50) plus “tuna and avocado tartare with soy and mustard mayonnaise” (EUR 12.50) and both was decent in terms of taste – nothing to be celebrated but decent.

The “grilled Gallician beef tenderloin, piquillo peppers, and French fries” (EUR 18.50) was not really anything to remember. The meat wasn’t too bad but it was rather stringy and the French fries were clearly potato cubes and not French fries. Well, the meat per se (the parts which weren’t stringy) was good but it was also cold. However, since they also didn’t have the main I originally wanted to order I was like “whatever” and ate it (again, not bad for the parts without strings).

Luckily, at least the dessert was great, the “apple pie with vanilla ice cream” (EUR 6.50) held its promise and was what was on the menu and was actually quite enjoyable.

While I was not happy with the restaurant, I must point out that the waitress who attended us was actually super friendly and professional and I guess she got used to the fact that the restaurant doesn’t really meet most people’s expectations. And, since they only take tip as cash, I was not even able to tip the waitress. All in all, the Panorama is not a place I would really recommend – also due to the fact that it’s located in the marina and the loud sound of the surrounding places makes a conversation almost impossible.
