A new and improved street food festival experience: 11th Zurich Street Food Festival (3. October 2021)

| December 3, 2021 | 0 Comments

It’s two years ago since I’ve been to the last Street Food Festival in Zurich (since it didn’t take place last year) and they have definitely improved the concept. Before you had to walk through all the stalls and look what they offer and then you would miss more than 50% of what they had to offer since you wouldn’t really go through all the different menus. Now, they have facilitated and sped up the process by placing QR codes on all tables and with one quick scan with the phone, you have access to all the stalls and can basically order from different food stalls at the same time – and whenever your dish in one of the stalls is ready, you get a text to pick it up. So much more convenient, so much more efficient! Definitely a big plus thanks to Corona!

I went for the “Gua Bao pork belly” (CHF 13.00) which was absolutely delicious. The bun was great, the filling was generous, and the pork belly was delicious. The “empanadas chörbli (chorizo, carne, espinaca)” (CHF 12.00) on the other hand was not really what I expected. I mean, the empanadas were good (generously staffed, good in terms of flavor) but somehow they were lacking some kind of sauce or liquid or anything in that area since they were rather dry (respectively, there was quite a lot of dough).

The “louisiana lobster roll (marinated crayfish, cajun sauce, celery, fresh rocket salad, garnished with chive)” (CHF 18.00) was actually super tasty. It was also generously filled and you had a great bite. Definitely good, no question, but with CHF 18.00 for such a bite also on the rather expensive side of things.

Last but not least, I went for the “Poushe apple caramel with vanilla creme” (CHF 12.50) which was quite a portion, rather heavy in terms of flavors but ultimately delicious. So, if you’re into rather heavy but sweet desserts, I can definitely recommend you to try a Poushe.

All in all, the 11th Zurich Street Food Festival is definitely an upgrade to previous versions. Mainly because you get to try much more in a much simpler way and it actually allows you to discover different dishes from different stalls without spending hours and hours in queuing. The only downside is that you still have to queue for beverages.
