Simple but tasty Swiss dishes in a traditional setting: Restaurant Schwendi-Kaltbad (2. October 2021)
When you go for a brief hike in the Glaubenberg, there are a couple of restaurants which offer you a place to take a quick break and enjoy some typical Swiss dishes. I went for the “sausage and cheese salad without garnish” (CHF 16.50) as a starter which was fine but had quite a lot of garnish on the side for the fact that it was supposedly a salad without garnish.
The “deer cuts with spaetzle and red cabbage” (CHF 33.00) was quite intense due to the intensity of the sauce. However, the quality of the meat was good as it was not too dry (which it somehow so often is). So, all in all, it was a decent main course.
The place is unattended, i.e., it’s about self-service, meaning you have to go inside, place your order, and then somewhen later a waiter brings you the food. And, I must say, I was surprised how quickly everything was served. All in all, if you’re hiking in the area, I can definitely recommend to take a short break in the sun in the Restaurant Schwendi-Kaltbad.
