A decent dinner but you need to be patient since the service is slow: Restaurant TeaBox (13. October 2021)

The TeaBox is another case of places you’d not walk in from the outside but most likely will enjoy when you’re there. The place is super simple but functional and, therefore, nice. The service is definitely way too slow though – you definitely need to be patient to get your food. Not sure it depended on the order or something else but it was definitely the case that we waited longer for our food than the other people who had arrived after us.

I went for “edamame” (EUR 3.90) as a starter which was fine in terms of quality of the soy beans and there was also definitely enough salt applied to them. A bit unevenly distributed, but else it was fine.

Part of one of the dishes was a “miso soup” which I had not ordered but given it took them over 30 minutes between the starter and the main dishes I didn’t really mind, respectively was actually quite happy that they had a soup included. And it was good as well.

The “red curry chicken” (EUR 8.00) was fine – definitely nothing to remember but okay in terms of quality of the dish. Personally, I liked it despite the chicken. The vegetables and the sauce were good but the chicken itself was rather bland and not really that enjoyable in terms of consistency.

The “spicy tuna roll (spicy tuna tatar, avocado, cucumber, pepper, mango and herbs in rice paper)” (EUR 12.90) sounded very promising on paper but was actually quite a disappointment when it comes to taste. The whole roll was just somewhat overly covered in sauce which didn’t really make it a great experience in terms of flavor.

The “maracuja mix (passion fruit juice, fresh mint, limes and soda)” (EUR 4.90) on the other hand was good but had a tiny bit too much ice for my personal gusto.

So, to sum it up, the experience at the TeaBox is absolutely okay – but nothing more than that. The 4.x rating on Google is, in my opinion, not justified. The place is decent, the atmosphere is relatively simple, the food is okay and fair in price but it all takes way too long. Also, booking is not necessary nor possible – I tried booking a table basically throughout the whole day but no one would pick up the phone …
