Good traditional Russian dishes but slow service in average atmosphere: Restaurant Aljonuschka (15. October 2021)

| December 16, 2021 | 0 Comments

After having landed in Dresden, I was somewhat hungry although it was late and I wanted a place which had good ratings and was close to my hotel – so, I ended up going to Aljonuschka, a Russian restaurant. Given I haven’t had Russian dishes in quite a while, I decided to try quite a couple of dishes like the “Plinsen (home-made, thin pancake, served with sour cream)” (EUR 4.50) which was okay but really a bit boring since it didn’t taste like much.

The “Olivier Sovetskiy (hearty salad made of boiled potatoes, carrots, eggs, green peas, finely cut boiled poultry sausage, sour cucumbers in a mayonnaise yogurt dressing)” (EUR 5.50) on the other hand was absolutely enjoyable. The dish was definitely hearty but it was great in its simplicity.

The “Pelmeni Classic (10 pieces, filled with minced deer and onions)” (EUR 6.00) was good as well. To be honest, I think I couldn’t have spotted the difference between minced beef and minced deer in that specific setup but it was definitely something delicious and worth trying.

The “Russian Ivan Tea” (EUR 4.50) was served with cookies which were actually quite delicious and perfect to finish the dinner.

The place is simple in terms of interior design but you can easily find a place to sit down and enjoy your evening there. The waiter was friendly but since he was obviously also the only waiter there, we had to be quite patient until we were attended and until the beverages were served. After that, things sped up a bit and it was fine overall. Since we arrived around 9pm, we were lucky to score a table but if you wanna go during peak hours, I’d recommend you to book a table in advance.
