Decent but relatively pricey for Italy: Restaurant Ventuno No. 1 (29. October 2021)
The Ventuno No. 1 was on the Michelin list, not with a Michelin star but as a recommendation so I had high hopes which were partially satisfied. The evening started with a breaded eggplant with some curd which was nice but nothing exciting.
The “bread selection” was fine in terms of breadth selection but not that amazing in terms of quality of the bread.
The “pink cooked veal, tuna sauce, anchovies and capers” or “vitello tonnato” (EUR 15.00) was actually quite nice. It was presented a bit differently to what I’m used to when it comes to vitello tonnato but it was enjoyable in terms of quality of the dish.
The “ravioli pasta filled with fondue, Jerusalem Artichoke, veal sauce” (EUR 15.00) on the other hand was truly exquisite. The pasta was cooked al dente and the sauce was mouth-watering. Not really that I had expected that but it was a blast.
The “panna cotta, salted caramel and Gianduia chocolate crumble” (EUR 8.00) on the other hand was something I had taken more out of curiosity and turned out to be decent but nothing worth repeating.
The place is simple and nothing much in terms of atmosphere but definitely okay. However, the service is great, since they are super friendly, swift, and actually pay quite good attention to the customer requests. So, all in all, the Ventuno No. 1 is nothing which blew my mind but it was definitely a restaurant which offers good dishes for a fair price with good service.
