A local food joint and nothing more: Restaurant Flor de Bragança (Casa Bragança) (5. November 2021)

Once we had arrived in Porto, it was right away time for dinner and since the place had been recommended, we thought we should give it a shot. However, it turns out that sometimes going for recommendations without cross checking them, isn’t really the best of all ideas. Well, the place was packed for sure so it wasn’t easy to get a space. However, after waiting approximately 10 minutes, we managed to get a table and sit down. The waiter was admittedly friendly and attentive but also rather busy so it took quite a time for him to bring the menu first, the beverages after and finally the food.

We went for “cod snacks” (EUR 0.80 / piece) which were absolutely fine.

The “sardines” (EUR 6.00) which I had asked for to get as a starter were delivered that way which I appreciated since they were not intended to be served as a starter but they were rather dry but at least plenty so you would definitely not feel like you didn’t have enough.

As a main, I went for the “Leitão” or “suckling pig” (EUR 12.00) which was quite a portion and was actually fine in terms of food. The dish is heavy and you definitely have enough after this but it is also not something where you gonna be super happy in terms of quality of the dish.

All in all, the Restaurant Flor de Bragança (Casa Bragança) is a regular local food joint where you get what you pay for – food intake aka energy but nothing more. For me, not a place I will visit again.
