A delicious mixture between Danish and Japanese cuisine: Restaurant Sticks’n’Sushi (8. November 2021)

I somehow more or less randomly walked into the Sticks’n’Sushi since it was rated good on Google Maps and I must say that I actually liked the place quite a lot. It wasn’t really busy when I entered so I was attended quickly. And after having been able to place my order, I started enjoying lunch with a good cup of tea “Coziness (Sticks’n’Sushi’s own creation with mint and Danish liquorice)” (EUR 4.20) which was surprisingly nice since it was nice, warm tea and on the other hand there was this delicious liquorice aftertaste which I enjoyed quite a bit.

I felt like enjoying a couple of healthy bites to get started so I went for the “Cauliflower (cauliflower with truffle goma)” (EUR 4.50) which was boring without the sauce but was incredibly delicious with this truffle goma sauce. For all the purists out there, there are things which are just better with sauce. Secondly, I went for the “broccoli (grilled broccoli with spicy goma)” (EUR 5.00) which was also good but not as good as the cauliflower.

The “Rice Paper (duck, red onion, avocado, cilantro, goma)” (EUR 9.60) was enjoyable as well. Somehow a bit heavy on the vegetable side given I was looking forward to enjoying a duck dish but else it was definitely solid.

The “Green Bird Salad (soy marinated chicken with marinated eggs on a salad with cabbage, romana, quinoa, grilled broccoli, avocado, tomatoes, edamame, radicchio, sesame, garnished with chicken skin and wasabi caesar dressing)” (EUR 18.00) is definitely quite a portion (especially, considering what I had eaten previously). In any case, I absolutely loved the marinated eggs, their intense and yet creamy, delicious flavor. Just perfect. However, there isn’t too much chicken in the salad and on every other level it’s pretty much just a regular salad.

The place is nice in terms of interior design and the fact that you are able to look straight into the kitchen is definitely something nice which shows that they are not afraid to show what they got.

Secondly, the staff in the Sticks’n’Sushi does a great job at providing whatever you want and need at all times. They are always there when you need them as long as you wave at them a little bit. All in all, I was super positively surprised by the Sticks’n’Sushi and can definitely recommend this place for lunch.
