A nice rooftop restaurant with surprisingly delicious dishes: Restaurant Modissa Rooftop (11. November 2021)

| January 30, 2022 | 0 Comments

The Modissa Rooftop was on my to do list for quite a while and finally I had a chance to visit it. However, I can say upfront that visiting this place is definitely more appealing in summer than in winter since you get to sit outside on the rooftop terrace and take the sun in. However, even in winter, it’s rather nice since the place is above Bahnhofstrasse and offers you a nice place of quiet and tasty dishes (although the background music is quite loud).

I went for the “hummus (with home-made naan bread)” (CHF 13.00) as a starter which was nice – especially since the hummus was rich and at the same time refreshing due to the pomegranate seeds it had in it. The naan bread was roasted (or something like that) so it was crispier than I had expected.

The “edamame (with salty curcuma quinoa granola)” (CHF 9.00) was interesting in thus far that I hadn’t had that combination of edamame with the crispiness of the roasted quinoa. And it was quite enjoyable but rather expensive with CHF 9.00 for soy beans.

The “Tan Tan Ramen noodle soup (with minced beef, soft egg, bitter green, ginger, sesame)” (CHF 28.00) didn’t look like a big portion at first but turned out to be rather delicious and intense in flavor. So, frankly, the dishes at the Modissa Rooftop are actually quite nice.

The place has more of a bar flavor in terms of interior design which is also reflected in the relatively low but at least comfortable chairs placed at the tables. The service is friendly and to a large degree swift. Only when it came to the coffee and dessert, they did not really manage to be quick and it took them a solid 20 minutes until they brought the coffee. And they did not manage to prepare the chocolate baos which I was very interested in trying. Still, all in all, the Modissa Rooftop is a save bet in terms of food and atmosphere. Just make sure that you book well in advance since the place is relatively small and doesn’t have too many tables.
