Good selection of American-sized Mexican dishes: Restaurant El Andariego (20. November 2021)

| February 11, 2022 | 0 Comments

Given I didn’t want to dine at the hotel only, I decided to give a couple of restaurants in Puerto Vallarta a try. What you get at the El Andariego is a good selection of different Mexican style dishes and definitely a good deal for your booze order. I wanted to get a small margarita but somehow, since I haven’t made it clear when ordering, they brought me a big one. The “Cadillac margarita (Tequila reposado, licor de naranja y jugo de limón, batido a mano y servido en las rocas con un shot de Grand Marnier de sabor melón midori)” (319 MXN) was not only large but also rather boozy and ultimately surprisingly tasty.

The “ceviche de pescado (trocitos de filete de pescado marinados en limón y exquisitas especias)” (199 MXN) on the other hand was a bit too dry for me but still good – especially in combination with the avocado it turned out to be a good dish.

The “taquitos Ciudad de México (tres tortillas de maíz, rellenas de carnitas)” (209 MXN) were rather simple and not that amazing. However, since there were a lot of different things on the plate, you got a nice selection of different kind of bites which was quite nice but definitely too much.

The place itself is simple yet nice since it creates a feeling of Mexico although clearly exaggerated for tourists …

… but it is admittedly nice. The service is good since the waiters are friendly and relatively swift. What was a bit weird though was the fact that you would have to ask one specific waitress for the password of the wifi since the other waiters didn’t have it.

All in all, the El Andariego is a good place which offers good, American-sized portions of Mexican dishes.
