When the view is the only breath-taking thing: Restaurant Las Terrazas del Sauzal (5. December 2021)
After weeks in Mexico, everything starts tasting bland. And, unfortunately, that was also the case here. The Las Terrazas del Sauzal sound super promising as they offer a nice view over the city but somehow, you are not really experience anything great in terms of what you get there. They offer “bread and butter with croquetas” to start which were okay.
The “arroz negro de calamar (alioli de lima y jengibre, tallado de calamar, con diferentes texturas)” (13.45 EUR) was something I did not really enjoy. The rice itself was cooked well but the rest wasn’t really too appealing in terms of flavors and texture. While it definitely looked lovely, it wasn’t something I was enjoying much.
The “lubina salvaje de aquanaria (cremoso de papa chips y salsa holandesa con un toque canario)” (EUR 27.80) on the other hand was okay. The fish was tasty and the combination of ingredients added a bit to the refinedness of the flavors.
The “salmon (dish of the day)” (EUR 15.90) was okay too. I mean, frankly, it was far from the best salmon and probably I shouldn’t have been surprised since salmon isn’t really a dish one would necessarily eat on the Canaries. However, it was just really an average piece of food.
The view, however, is actually quite nice and appealing and you get to enjoy it by night. It becomes relatively cold in December so you should better wear something warm while you are sitting outside.
The place itself is super simple in terms of interior design and not really that appealing …
… which somehow becomes clear already when you enter the place which is somewhat overloaded. In any case, I believe the place is nice in terms of view – however, in terms of the rest, it isn’t really anything I would recommend.
To be fair though, the personnel was friendly and attentive and made sure you would actually have a good time – despite the relatively bland food.
