Simple meat dishes in a cozy atmosphere: Restaurant Le Carnivore de Vieille Ville (4. January 2022)
If you’re in Geneva and it’s late in the evening, it’s not entirely easy to find a place which is still open – but luckily, the Le Carnivore was still open. The restaurant is located on the lower floor and is a bit tight in terms of space but they offer a decent selection of dishes. I started with the “mixed salad” (CHF 12.00) which was generous in terms of ingredients and good but obviously simple.
The “assiette lyonnaise (raw minced beef seasoned with basil, gherkins, mustard, onions, parsley, egg yolk, oil and served with grilled bone marrow, French fries and toast)” (CHF 38.00) was nice. The tatar was good, the bone marrow could have been a bit warmer, and the French fries were nice but not cripsy enough for my personal gusto. The waiter (who seemed to be the owner) was super friendly though and when I had asked for more bread and butter, it was served within minutes.
All in all, the Le Carnivore de Vieille Ville is a nice, simple place which offers good meat dishes in a cozy atmosphere. On a Tuesday evening, booking in advance wasn’t necessary as the place was basically empty when we got in.
