Good traditional French dishes with friendly service: Restaurant Bistrot du Bœuf Rouge (17. January 2022)
It isn’t entirely easy to find a place which is still open after 9pm and serves food – but I was lucky and found the Bistrot du Bœuf Rouge which offers relatively traditional dishes like the “Gratinée lyonnaise (Lyon style onion soup with grated cheese)” (CHF 14.00) which was absolutely enjoyable. The soup was intense in flavor and the bread overbaked with cheese on top was delicious.
The “entrecôte avec sauce bleu d’Auvergne (blue cheese sauce)” (CHF 45.00) was fine as well. The piece of meat was a bit small for my personal gusto and the price but still quite fine other than that. The blue cheese sauce was tasty but it was somewhat too much in terms of intensity. It was dominating the meat which ruined the overall meat experience.
The place is relatively simple in terms of interior design but the staff is super friendly and made sure I had everything I needed and wanted within a very short amount of time. So, if you’re looking for a late night dinner location, I would highly recommend you to try this place out.
