Half a decade later, it remains a good choice for lunch: Restaurant Krone Altstetten (16. March 2022)

I haven’t been to the Krone Altstetten for almost half a decade but the place is still up and running and I think, in summary, the rating remains more or less the same. The food is good, the prices are fair, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is nice. I went for the “beet tatar (goat cream cheese cream, caramelized walnuts, cripsy bread)” (CHF 13.00) as a starter which was interesting although, personally, the beet cubes were a bit too big for my personal gusto. Other than that, it was an enjoyable starter.

The “wild garlic ravioli (carrot pesto, pistacchio, nut butter foam)” (CHF 28.00) on the other hand weren’t exactly up to task – I mean, they were totally okay but far from exciting and quite a small portion. Starter and main would give you enough but somehow I get the feeling that you should have enough as well if you only ordered the main.

The place is still very stylish, traditional, modern, generally appealing.

The Krone still employs people which disabilities making sure they also have a place to work and to contribute to society. That being said, I think it’s a nice concept but it needs you to be a bit patient when it comes to certain things (which is fine). All in all, the Krone Altstetten is a nice place for a swift and tasty lunch for a fair price. Especially if you would want to eat outside, you have to book a table in advance as else you won’t stand a chance.
