A rather disappointing breakfast experience: Restaurant Atmosfera @ The Regency, Rome, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel (20. March 2022)
When I’m staying at a Marriott hotel, I’m always somehow hoping to get a great breakfast buffet. Unfortunately, that’s not the case at The Regency. However, they have kind of an exhaustive breakfast menu from which you can pick your dishes. Frankly though, the prices are quite steep overall since you’d end up paying more than EUR 50.00 for a breakfast if you want a luscious version. Luckily, since I got Ambassador status, I got my breakfast for free.
In any case, I went for the “traditional breakfast (croissant, Italian pastry, toast, bread, butter, yogurt, assortment of jams and honey, orange juice, tea/coffee)” (EUR 15.00) which is a relatively generous selection of bread and pastries (six pieces plus 2 toasts). However, for the butter I had to ask specifically as well as for the orange juice and the bottle of water I had ordered on top. Somehow okay but also somehow not what you’d expect – especially since the bread was brought super quickly but then the rest took ages.
The “portion of fruit” which is part of the above breakfast is decent but it’s really just one ration. Which is enough, no question. But it’s also nothing extraordinary.
The “omelette with ham and cheese” (EUR 10.00) was nice (although I think that EUR 10.00 is definitely too much if you’d have to pay for it) since it was not too moist but also not too dry. Really just perfectly in the middle and the cheese was nicely melted so it made for a great bite.
The Atmosfera doesn’t have that much atmosphere, if you ask me. The place is really just a couple of tables next to the bar in the lobby of the hotel. That being said, it’s not horrible but it’s really not a place where I’d say it has atmosphere. So, when you stay at The Regency and the breakfast is included – take it. In any other case, I’d say, not worth having breakfast here but you should rather go out and try a great coffee and a croissant in a small Italian bar.
