19. May 2011: Restaurant Le Parc @Le Méridien Parkhotel

The Lobster Cappuccino (EUR 8.50) was good but a bit too watery but at least it tasted like lobster, the foam was good, the bread which came with it just plain boring. Overall, the soup was okay but not more than that.

The Argentinian beef filet (200 gr; EUR 29.00) was tender, medium as requested and had a tasty crust. Overall, the meat was good and tasty. What was not so great though …

… were potato wedges. Although the idea of spicing them up with paprica powder is nice, the wedges were dry, boring and did not seem to have been freshly made.

The mixed salad which also came with the beef filet was good – it was not only green salad but a great variety of different vegetables and was garnished with flowers which did not only look nice but also gave the whole thing a little extra. The sauce was good too. To summarize the main dish, if it was only the filet and the salad, it would have been great – the potatoes ruined it.

The bread and butter I was served at the beginning was old and not so tasty. Not that the bread is of major interest but it is just somewhat disappointing and you would not expect that you get old bread served in the restaurant of such a hotel.

The atmosphere in the Le Parc restaurant is nice and just “designy”. Definitely a nice place (also to have breakfast). The waitress and waiter were friendly and helpful but just quite slow – the restaurant was almost empty and still it always took them quite some time until I got served. Another flaw was that she forgot to ask which sauce I wanted with the beef filet – not really tragic but a flaw.

Overall, the dishes at the Le Parc Restaurant in the Le Méridien Parkhotel are acceptable – the beef was good, the lobster soup okay, the salad too but the potato wedges and the bread were disappointing and seemed not freshly prepared and old, respectively. The amtosphere is nice, the service is friendly but too slow and the prices are generally quite fair for a hotel of the Starwood group. Overall, if you’re staying at the Le Méridien Parkhotel, it’s okay to have dinner there – I wouldn’t go there just for the food though.
