22. May 2011: Restaurant Sultan Karthago

| May 25, 2011 | 0 Comments

A selection of eight different mezes plus a chicken spit (CHF 108.00) were served – at first I thought it was not really enough which turned out to be not true. The chicken spits were good, the chicken was juicy but not too much. Additionally, there were two different humus’ which were okay but not really great (I guess I won’t ever have as good humus in Europe as I’ve had in Dubai). There was Taboulet, spicy sausages, some kind of spring rolls, pita bread, and fried vegetables and meat.

The dishes were good overall – the humus was okay but not too great, the fried vegetables and meat were good but way too oily as well as the spring roll. The shrimps were really tasty though!

Overall, the dishes are good but nothing special – a sound meal. The price is pretty high though for what you get – especially, if you look at the fact that you get two spring rolls in a plate for around CHF 10.00 – that is pretty pricy.

The waiter was friendly and helpful but it took him quite a while (around 30 minutes) to bring us the dishes – but overall it was okay. The place is somewhat atmospheric because it tries to provide you with an original Oriental feeling which does not work too good though – the tiled walls don’t look too appealing but the deco is nice.

Overall, I would recommend the Restaurant Sultan Karthago for having one or two meze as an aperitivo (i.e. humus and shrimps) with a glass of wine or a beer, but I consider it too expensive for what you get to eat.
