23. May 2011: Restaurant netts Schützengarten

The pea soup (CHF 7.00) was rich in taste but pretty thin and watery. It could definitely be a bit thicker as it would enrich the soup. But at least it was good in taste.

The beef tatar (CHF 32.00 for the large portion) was pretty good but lacked the little extra hint. Additionally, I prefer beef tatar without onions and the like in it – it just bastardizes the taste of the meat. Still, the meat was good and there was enough toasted bread and butter after I’ve asked for more.

The sorbet platter (CHF 12.00) as a desert is a good choice – I went for “chocolate sorbet”, strawberry sorbet, coco sorbet, and rhubarb sorbet. The chocolate sorbet was basically ice cream but without ice cream – not my favorite (but I’m not really a fan of chocolate), the strawberry sorbet was good, but regularly boring, the coco sorbet was absolutely tasty and the rhubarb sorbet was interesting and good.

Together with the double espresso (CHF 6.00) we got two pieces of chocolate cake and they were really good I must admit (although – as mentioned above – I’m not a huge fan of chocolate). A bottle of water costs CHF 6.50 which is also pretty fair in price!

The waiters and waitresses are friendly and helpful and serve you within a reasonable timeframe. Additionally, they are fulfilling your requests and are not complicated at all – I’ve been at the netts about 5 years ago and the service I’ve experienced back then was definitely one of the worst I’ve ever had. Now, the service is on a good level! An epic improvement!

The garden of the netts is comfortable, nice and inviting. If you have the possibility to lunch or dine outside in summer, you definitely should do so! Also, the interior is nice and appealing.

Overall, the Restaurant netts Schützengarten offers good food at reasonable prices, has good service and you can eat in a very nice atmosphere. Whereas 5 years ago I would have advise against going to the netts, today I can definitely recommend it. It is a bit pricy for lunch – but it is definitely good and nice!
