Having lunch upstairs is a different treat than downstairs: Restaurant Cantinetta Antinori (20. April 2022)
After not having been here for three years, I ended up in the Cantinetta Antinori twice within two weeks. This time, it was for a bit more luscious lunch and I started it with “Cappellacci di Ricotta (home-made, stuffed with ricotta marjoram)” (CHF 25.00) which were great. They were, in my opinion, a bit overcooked (and not al dente) but other than that very enjoyable and delicious.
As a main course, I went for the “Gamberoni Aglio, Olio E Peperoncino (peeled king prawns with garlic and peperoncino seared in olive oil)” (CHF 49.00) which are quite pricey considering you end up paying almost CHF 10.00 per king prawn. However, the combination of the prawns with the garlic and the pepperoncini is actually quite delicious – not surprisingly, obviously. The king prawns were a tat too dry for me but else quite delicious.
Usually, they would be served with ‘regular rice’ but I had asked for “risotto” which they willingly brought – and I must say the risotto was good but not exquisite. What was exquisite though was the service – our waiter was not only friendly and swift, but he was also rather attentive, making sure our glasses never emptied.
If you dine upstairs where it’s a bit more quiet and private, the Cantinetta Antinori is definitely a nice place I can recommend – just make very sure that you book a table in advance and that you have the necessary petty cash to pay for lunch – it’s not a cheap treat.
