It remains a great place to have lunch in the sun, if you have time: Restaurant Brasserie Schiller (28. April 2022)

Despite the fact that I’m very often disappointed in the Brasserie Schiller in terms of speed of service, I somehow keep coming back since the place is conveniently and centrally placed, plus it has a nice atmosphere when you get to sit outside. However, as always, it takes a bit until you’re attended, brought the menu, and they finally take up your order. To be fair though, that day, it was relatively swift (compared to other experiences).

I went for the “beet root carpaccio (with roasted hazelnuts, frisée salad, and feta)” (CHF 18.00) which was quite intense in terms of flavours but also very enjoyable. Definitely a “new-ish” interpretation of things which one wouldn’t really expect, but the combination of the crunchy hazelnuts with the saltiness of the feta and the smoothness of the beet root turned out to be quite great.

The “entrecôte “Café de Paris” with Züri fries and wild broccoli” (CHF 52.00) turned out to be much more delicious than I had anticipated. The entrecôte is of good quality and the Café de Paris sauce is definitely exquisite. My absolute highlight was the wild broccoli because I love wild broccoli, and it is served way too seldomly.

My assessment of the Brasserie Schiller somehow remainds the same: great location, nice to enjoy the time in the sun, slow service, but good dishes for relatively okay prices. Booking in advance, as with most places in Zurich, is highly recommended.
