29. May 2011: Ristorante Cantina della Vetra

| June 5, 2011 | 0 Comments

A GREAT EXPERIENCE! That’s what describes best my brunch at the Cantina della Vetra – absolutely unbeatable. The brunch on Sunday starts at 12pm and you should make a reservation upfront in order to make sure to get a table. Once, you’ve arrived there, you are amazed – believe me.

The restaurant offers a great buffet ranging from a whole lot of different cheeses to mortadella con tartufo, tartes, fresh salmon, freshly cooked ham, breads, and so on. A never ending story. And whatever you take from the buffet – it tastes absolutely great! You are going to be truly delighted!

When you sat down, you’re served water and Gnocchi Fritti (see picture below) which taste great. The water comes in the price and you can have as many bottles as you want, also coffee is included in the price of EUR 30.00 per person (which might sound like much at first sight but it is not for what you get!).

Included is also a “primo piatto” you can choose from a list of about 5 different plates. Mine was not bad but not so great either. My sister had Risotto al Barolo con Fragole (red wine risotto with strawberries) which tasted really great. Definitely something one would have to try out at home once.

After you’re done with the “regular” food, you can proceed to the desert buffet – it is not as big as the “regular” buffet but it is equally amazing and tasty. Definitely a great selection of tartes, tiramisu, vanilla cream, fresh fruit, and so on.

The waitresses are very friendly, very competent, and extremly helpful – that’s the way you want service to be and no different. When we asked the waitress about champagne (which fits best and is not too dry), she pointed us to her colleague right away and did not try to play competent. Also, you should ask for the waitress who is responsible for the wine – because she’s good looking :-).

The atmosphere in the Ristorante Cantina della Vetra is really nice. It is nothing fancy really but it is somehow authentic and therefore, it is inviting and nice. It just feels like a real, traditional, Italian restaurant. Which is also somehow confirmed by the fact that you can’t really find any tourists but only locals.

What is there more to say: Go, enjoy, be amazed!
