A great rooftop bar with slow service: NYX Japanese Fusion Gastrobar @ Academias Hotel, Autograph Collection (20. June 2022)
As I had previously mentioned, there are many places from which you can see the Acropolis – be it by day or by night. The NYX Japanese Fusion Gastrobar on top of the Academias Hotel is one of them. They serve a nice range of interesting drinks like the “Down To Earth (42 below vodka infused hay, green apple and fennel cordial, fresh lime juice, Angostura bitters)” (EUR 12.00) which was good in terms of flavour. A bit special when it comes to the amount of ‘drink’ you would get since the glass was full to about 2/3 with a huge ice cube.
The view, as stated, is amazing – you get to see the illuminated Acropolis by night, which is quite a sight. The place itself is quite atmospheric and overall appealing – modern yet traditional setting, lovely surroundings – just great.
The staff was super friendly – but unfortunately not as attentive as they were friendly, so once the menu was served, it took them quite a while to come back and take up the order – so one spends quite some time waiting. And then the same applies when it comes to the ‘production’ of the drinks. Definitely something which could be, process-wise, improved. Other than that, the NYX is a great place to enjoy a pre-sleep drink.
