Exquisite lunch offering in a nice setting and a perfect host: Restaurant Zunfthaus zur Waag (20. July 2022)
The Zunfthaus zur Waag hasn’t changed much over the years. It’s a solid go-to place where you get good, tasty, and traditional dishes. However, to be honest, not sure about the “gazpacho” they served as a starter since it was rather far from everything like a gazpacho I had ever tried in my past.
The “veal roast served with cream polenta, seasonal vegetables, and chanterelles sauce” (CHF 46.00) was definitely enjoyable. IN all honesty, though, the prices are rather high for what you get. Sure, sometimes the dishes are more expensive, but I felt a tiny bit cheated today.
The “vanilla crème brûlée with cherry sorbet” (CHF 14.50) on the other hand was in thus far a pleasant surprise since the portion was massive. I mean, sure, it was also good, but everyone at the table was basically surprised how big the dessert was.
When you sit outside, it’s rather nice since the tables are covered by a sun umbrella, and it’s nicely cool outside. The staff is generally super friendly and attentive – Sepp is making sure that everyone gets what they want and need. In any case, booking a table well in advanced is a good idea, since the place is usually rather booked out.
