The perfect combination of caring, delicious food, and nice atmosphere: Restaurant Krone Altstetten (21. July 2022)
The Krone Altstetten combines the concept of gastronomy with the concept of helping people with challenges. Therefore, they hire people with challenges as waiters and waitresses – which is quite an amazing concept. On top of that, they also have a lovely garden in which you can enjoy your meal, plus offer quite tasty dishes. I went for the “cold cucumber melon soup with sour cream” which was light and refreshing, and the dash of sour cream really adds something to the dish.
The “avocado tatar (hour egg, home-made olive sage focaccio, mozzarella di buffala, miso mayo, and pickled beet root)” (CHF 27.50) looks a bit boring at first, but it turns out that the flavour and texture combination actually works amazingly well and is definitely something you can enjoy. It’s a light, summery dish.
The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure you have everything you need and want. And the people are trained well, since they try to sell you a glass of wine for lunch, and a schnapps for dessert. All in all, I like the concept, the place, the quality of the service and food, as well as the price for which you get it! Worth visiting – and necessary booking in advance.
