A relatively unique kosher experience: Restaurant Florentin (22. August 2022)
If you’re interested in a bit of a special lunch experience, you should book a table at the Florentin. What I was not entirely aware of was the fact that the Florentin is a Jewish restaurant, so, imagine my surprise that I was questioned by a security guy when trying to enter the restaurant about where I live, why I picked the restaurant, and had to show ID. Once you’re in, you figure why there are maybe not too many guests, since the process is a bit cumbersome. In any case, since it was booked, we decided to give it a try.
I went for the “Caesar salad (brioche croutons, Caesar dressing (sardine))” (CHF 14.00) as a starter which turned out to be quite delicious. The bread crumbs were a bit big, but other than that, it was quite nice.
The “beef burger (salad, onion confit, tomato, cucumber, brioche, French fries)” (CHF 28.50) was surprisingly delicious. The meat was juicy and rich, the bun was nice and crispy, without being greasy. And the French fries were actually deliciously crispy.
The service was friendly and quite attentive. And it didn’t take long for the single dishes to arrive – which was quite nice. All in all, I enjoyed the experience at the Florentin, but must admit that I find the whole ‘admittance process’ a bit annoying (especially since they is no upfront hint about it).
