Quite disappointing compared to the amazing ‘Metzgete’ experiences: Restaurant Falken Wiedikon (22. August 2022)
I have been to the Falken Wiedikon twice before, but both times in the context of the annual ‘Metzgete’. Today was the first time I was visiting the Falken Wiedikon in the context of a ‘regular’ visit. Given I was not that starving, I decided to only go for a main and went for the “fried whitefish fillet served with a white wine sauce on summer truffle risotto, caramelized fennel, and grilled zucchini” (CHF 36.00) and while the portion was relatively tiny, the dish itself was good.
The “icecream selection” (CHF 18.00) I picked was actually quite good. And I loved the selection of fresh berries. What I found quite disturbing though was the price. I mean, CHF 18.00 for three scoops of ice cream just seems a bit off.
While the garden patio is quite lovely to sit outside, it comes with two downsides. One being that it’s relatively loud around since you’re in a corner between two streets. The other being the speed and attentiveness of the service. You had to literally walk into the restaurant for them to pay attention and to pick up your order. Which gave away the impression that they didn’t want to do any business at all. So, frankly, I still love the Falken Wiedikon for Metzgete, but would definitely not recommend it for any other type of dining experience.
