Generally good dishes but served in a rush: Restaurant Triangle (8. November 2022)

I keep looking for tasty restaurants in Riyadh and once in a while I’m more lucky, sometimes I’m not so lucky. I think the food taste of the average Saudi differs quite a bit from mine, so I figured that I cannot entirely rely on the online ratings. In any case, the Triangle is a bit remote and when I arrived at 8pm, I was the only client. And that largely stayed the same until I left 2 hours later (there were two more people coming in during that time). I really do wonder how they manage to stay open, since it’s really a miracle to me!

Once you have placed your order, you get some chips which are lovely since they are thicker than the regular chips, but still have a nice crispiness to them.

I ordered a few different bites to try like the “tornado chicken bites (crispy chicken tenders coated in our home-made spicy buffalo sauce served with ranch sauce)” (39.00 SAR) which were quite lovely, and nicely spicy. I also liked the sauce since it went quite well with the chicken coating.

The “grilled steak taco (grilled steak, white cabbage, guacamole spread, topped with fried onion)” (48.00 SAR) on the other hand was too overloaded for me. I mean, it was a hardshell taco which I generally do not appreciate too much, but it was too thin, so you would actually end up squeezing the food together leaving a mess. And, it wasn’t too great either from a taste perspective.

The “original mini burger (Prime Angus beef patty, lettuce, cheddar cheese, pickled onion, pickled cucumber, fresh tomato slice, mustard)” (20.00 SAR) was quite okay, but also not beyond all doubts.

The “Koozie Fries (home-made local Saudi potato fries, beef bacon, pickled jalapeño, and special sauce)” (45.00 SAR) looked okay, but they were too stroppy, and for my personal gusto, there was way too much sauce on these fries for them to be truly enjoyable.

At least the “rose pomegranate (pomegranate syrup, rose water, sprite)” (32.00 SAR) kept its promise. It was a nice flavour combination of rose and pomegranate – just like the description stated.

All in all, the restaurant Triangle is a bit of a lost place. A nice and appealing interior design, but no guests. Friendly, and somewhat overly eager staff. Decent food for fair prices, but nothing you will remember. So, if you are there anyway, why not. Not worth driving there, though.
