Traditional Middle Eastern cuisine in a typical restaurant: Restaurant Nobles (9. November 2022)

Once more I was looking for a restaurant which I hadn’t tried yet and found the Nobles. It’s quite a local restaurant where only one waiter was speaking English and a rather basic version of it. But it somehow worked out, and he was super friendly and attentive throughout the evening. I went for the “green both (layers of yoghurt, grouts, bell pepper and mixed nuts)” (25.00 SAR) which was quite nice and definitely a flavour I hadn’t tried before.

The “hummus with meat (chickpeas prepared the traditional way topped with fried meat cubes and spices)” (50.00 SAR) was as great as always when you get hummus with meat. The hummus was smooth, delicious, and the meat cubes were adding nicely to the whole experience.

Since I always prefer to eat things I don’t know, I was curious how the “Karen Yarn (aubergine rolls stuffed with minced meat prepared with ghee with a mixture of toasted bread and tomato sauce, topped with tahini sauce)” (38.00 SAR) would taste. I personally liked it quite a bit – but there was a bit too much sauce on that plate for my personal gusto. Other than that, the aubergine wrap is quite lovely.

The “grilled halloumi (a mix of grilled halloumi pieces in virgin olive oil and tomatoes, topped with pesto sauce)” (35.00 SAR) with tomatoes and pesto sauce is quite nice. And while I don’t actually like pesto too much, I was a bit surprised, since it balanced quite well with the relatively salty halloumi.

Although I was already absolutely full, I could not ignore the “complimentary dessert with tea”. Although I’m not too big a fan of desserts, I must admit that the dessert was actually quite nice and enjoyable overall.

The place has a bit the impression of a buffet – which is not entirely optimal, but it is still, weirdly, nice.

The place looks like a little palace from the outside, which is nice, but also a bit too flashy for my personal gusto.

All in all, I can recommend you to visit the Nobles – it’s a nice restaurant which offers regional food for very fair prices and is overall enjoyable.
