Still okay, but not as good as usually: Restaurant Chef Boutique (15. December 2022)
The Chef Boutique has somehow become my go to in the evening – since the place is nice, the food is good, the service is usually swift, and price-wise it’s decent. This evening, that was almost all true. Only when it was about the speed of the service, then we didn’t quite get there. The guy was super friendly, but he was not exactly the sharpest tool in the box. I asked for sparkling water, no ice. And he brought me a glass of ice. I asked for the starter and main course to be ‘timed’, i.e., not to be served together – and they were served together.
I went for the “goal kick humus dip (beetroot, avocado, olives with crispy bread and carrot sticks)” (35.00 SAR), which was a nice combination of regular hummus and beetroot hummus. Since I’ve had hummus twice here already, I must say, this one was not as good as the other ones. What was great, though, is the fact that the waiter managed to get my order for ‘carrot sticks’ correctly, so, I was able to scoop the hummus with them.
As a main, I went for the “tango rolls (cube roll steak with halloumi cheese, olive oil, and rocket leaves)” (103.00 SAR), which was okay. The meat wasn’t of outstanding quality and the halloumi was not the best either, but it was decent. So, compared to my experiences so far, I must say, this was definitely the weakest one.
Still, all in all, the Chef Boutique remains a decent place for a quick and fine dinner.
