A lovely place by the beach for a lovely, but taste-wise uneventful lunch: Restaurant Maré (2. January 2023)
The Maré by the beach is really the perfect place to unwind – you’re seated right next to the beach and the place is absolutely simple, but lovely. As a starter, I went for the “boiled shrimp with aioli mayo” (EUR 21.00), which were super uneventful in terms of flavour and taste. The “yellowfin tuna ceviche” (EUR 24.00) on the other hand was absolutely great – just delicious.
Then again, the “Caesar salad (romaine lettuce, tomato, Parmesan cheese, bacon, Caesar dressing, anchovies)” (EUR 19.00) with “additional chicken” (EUR 6.00) didn’t really taste like anything. So, as pretty as the whole thing is, the food is far from exceptional. I think, it really depends on what you pick, as my ceviche was tasty, and the burger at the next table looked delicious.
The place is really nice, and inviting – with a little nice speech by the entrance …
… and an even nicer ‘goodbye’ when you leave.
The service is friendly and relatively attentive, unless you ask for the bill. Then it actually took a while for them to notice me. In any case, despite the food being only selectively good, the place is marvellous!
