Quite a good Chinese food find: Restaurant Glückskeks (12. February 2023)

| April 30, 2023 | 0 Comments

Since the Restaurant Glückskeks had a rating of 5.0 by 32 people on Google Maps, I decided to give it a try! The entrance is not easy to find, since you need to find the stairs and go down there to be able to enjoy the food. The place was absolutely empty when I arrived, and only later a few people came – besides the constant coming and going for delivery guys to pick up food! I went for the “gaozi (four steamed dumplings filled with beef)” (CHF 9.00) as the first starter, and I must say it was quite enjoyable. Quite sticky, quite heavy, and quite substantially stuffed.

The “spicy chicken bao (fried chicken in Bao with green salad, carrots, and spicy mayo sauce)” (CHF 9.50) was an interesting bao filling I haven’t had so far. Definitely on the crunchy side, and overall absolutely nice. The combination of the ingredients like salad, onion, carrots, and the sauce made it a nice and savoury combination.

As a main, I went for the “duck szechuan (spicy, peppery sauce)” (CHF 28.50) with “fried rice” (CHF 5.00) as a side. The two went together quite well – but it was definitely a massive portion. Luckily, I love fried rice, so it wasn’t all too bad in terms of amount. The food itself was good – nothing from mind-blowing, but solid and good.

The interior isn’t too appealing, but still nice. I mean, it’s functional, but it’s not a place you would return to due to the atmosphere.

However, the service is super friendly, and he makes sure that you have everything you need within no time. Even when I accidentally spilled a small bowl with soy sauce, it was taken care of immediately, which was refreshing and nice. All in all, not sure the Glückskeks is a 5.0 all in all, but it’s definitely a place worth visiting if you’re looking for edible Chinese food.
