Unfriendly service, but surprisingly decent cuisine: Restaurant Oh Massalia @ AC Hotel by Marriott Marseille Prado Velodrome (14. February 2023)
Since it was not easy to find a restaurant on short notice for Valentine’s Day, I decided to eat something in the hotel restaurant, and was quite happy there was actually space. The welcome was not really a welcome, as the waiter was somewhat rude. However, luckily the waiter changed, and the second waiter was actually quite nice and helpful. I went for the “burrata d’hiver (arugula, red beet, chiogga, carrot, walnut and maple syrup vinaigrette)” (EUR 18.00), which was surprisingly nice, not to say much better than expected.
As a main, I went for the “Le Saumon (salmon filet with dill sauce, bean purée and vegetables)” (EUR 23.00), which was overall tasty, but it was also quite a small portion of fish. Personally, they could definitely have increased the portion size a bit, since the salad definitely felt like more food than the salmon.
The place is only semi-appealing in terms of interior design, but it’s functional. It’s also not the greatest experience you can have in terms of service – or at least, it varies quite a bit between individuals. So, if you stay at the AC Hotel, it’s fine to dine here, if you don’t, it’s not worth the journey.
